KV331 Audio is pleased to announce the release of SynthMaster 2.9, their award-winning software synthesizer, now available on the iOS platform. Developed using their new cross-platform UI framework, SynthMaster 2 can be used as a standalone app or as an AUv3 plugin on iPads running iOS 11 and above.
SynthMaster 2 supports the native resolutions of various iPad devices and provides user interfaces for 9.7-inch, 11-inch, and 12.9-inch iPads in four different skins: Blue, White, Dark, and Proto. Separate interfaces are also available for the AudioUnit plugin.
With over 1000 factory presets designed by renowned sound designers such as BigTone, Nori Ubukata, NatLife, and Yuli Yolo, SynthMaster 2 offers a vast library of sounds. The comprehensive preset browsing features allow users to effortlessly filter presets by author name, bank name, instrument type, or preset name to find the desired sound.
For those looking to expand their sound palette, SynthMaster 2 also offers in-app purchases:
- "Desktop Presets Upgrade": Adds all factory presets in SynthMaster 2.9, increasing the total preset count to 2000.
- "All Expansions Bundle": Adds all current 38 SynthMaster preset expansion banks.
At the core of SynthMaster 2's robust sound engine are its oscillators, modulators, and filters.
Oscillators:
- Basic mode: Plays single cycle waveforms or samples with up to 8 voices per oscillator when Oscillator Unison is enabled.
- Additive mode: Stacks up to 8 Basic oscillators to create richer tones.
- Wavetable mode: Plays wavetables with up to 256 frames.
- Vector mode: Mixes 4 Basic oscillators in 2 dimensions.
Modulators:
Modulators are basic oscillators that can be added to or used for modulating other oscillators or modulators, allowing for the synthesis of complex FM tones.
Included in SynthMaster 2 is the ability to import wave files, which can be categorized as waveforms, wavetables, or multi-samples, enhancing sound design possibilities.
Once the sound is generated by the oscillators, it can pass through SynthMaster's filters which operate in six different categories: Digital, VAnalog, Ladder, Diode Ladder, State Variable, and Bite. Additionally, custom distortion can be applied before or after the filters.
Featuring a comprehensive modulation architecture, SynthMaster 2 offers a wide range of modulation sources:
- MIDI controls
- Macros controls
- Four ADSR envelopes per layer
- Four Multisegmented envelopes per layer
- Four LFOs per layer
- Four Sequencers per layer
- Four Keyscalers per layer
The real-time visual feedback provides users with a clear view of how modulation sources and targets change when a note is played, facilitating sound design with SynthMaster 2. Modulations can be easily created by dragging and dropping a modulation source onto a knob or slider control. By clicking on a modulation source, users can see which controls are being modulated and their respective modulation amounts. Controls can be edited by long-pressing without accessing the mod matrix.
SynthMaster features a comprehensive arpeggiator/sequencer with 32 steps, allowing users to easily create sequences by recording steps one by one.
With five insert effect slots per layer and the ability to instantiate 13 different types of effects, SynthMaster 2 offers extensive sound processing capabilities. Additionally, two global effect send buses enable the creation of complex effect routings.
